Or consider someone close to you that deserves a treat for everything they do for you, their friends or community; maybe a relative who is a keyworker or a neighbour who has helped you over the last year?

With every meal, we will ‘share some love’ across our community where others may be struggling with the challenge of putting food on the family table. Your Valentine’s meal will also give a family of 4 a healthy meal to let them know ‘we’re all in this together’.

2020 // A Year in Review

What a strange year! I think it’s fair to say that few people would have predicted the events of 2020.

Despite the unexpected challenges, there were plenty of positives to celebrate at JERICHO this year!

A New Look JERICHO

In September we launched our exciting new branding bringing our social enterprises and projects into the ‘Jericho family’ making it clear what we represent, who we help and how we do it.

Award Winners

Also in September, we were thrilled to receive the Centre for Social Justice’s Work and Welfare Award. The award recognises the positive impact we have on people’s lives and our burgeoning relationship with CSJ will give us the platform to ensure the issues that affect people with barriers to employment and social inclusion are heard and represented at the highest level.

Watch Bear Grylls announce our award win and the story of a Survivor of Modern Slavery that we have supported:

Apprentice Completers

Despite all the additional barriers facing them this year, we were incredibly proud to see six apprentices complete their time with us. We look forward to supporting you in the next stage of your work journey and hearing of your future adventures.

A special congratulations to Will from our Wood Shack social enterprise who achieved his apprenticeship with a distinction.

A JERICHO Christmas

2020 has been one of the hardest years in memory and for some of our beneficiaries it has been particularly tough. We have witnessed struggles with isolation, loneliness, financial difficulties, mental health issues and other pre-existing vulnerabilities without the routine of the workplace.

2020 has been one of the hardest years in memory and for some of our beneficiaries it has been particularly tough. We have witnessed struggles with isolation, loneliness, financial difficulties, mental health issues and other pre-existing vulnerabilities without the routine of the workplace.

We have been able to provide crisis support, including access to foodbanks, housing advice and short-term counselling, but with your help we would like to do more. As we navigate the next phase of the pandemic, we want to be able to provide additional support and respond to the longer term impact on our beneficiaries.

To help support our beneficiaries through this tough time text 2020CHRISTMAS to 70085 to donate £10. Texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message.

What has COVID taught us about the relationship with our homes?

With two national lockdowns in eight months and a myriad of social restrictions, this year we have spent an unprecedented amount of time in our homes.

image1-2.jpeg

With two national lockdowns in eight months and a myriad of social restrictions, this year we have spent an unprecedented amount of time in our homes.

So what have we learned? Well, according to one survey ‘We discovered that our home really is our castle and we should continue to enhance our homes and prioritise the improvements that will make the most impact on our lives, all year round. Anything that improves our mood, wellbeing and the way we interact as a family should be top of the agenda.’

Another says ‘More than a third felt the need to make home improvements due to spending more time than ever in their abode this year, with 59 percent wanting their home to be as “snug” as possible this winter. It also emerged that of those upgrading their homes in 2020, half did so in order to make it more cosy, inviting, or comfortable.’

On average we have spent almost twice as much time (now 8hrs 21mins) and almost twice as much money (now £181 per month) as usual in making our homes our happy place.

Have you had a clear-out and been left with items that are too good to throw away? Find out how you can donate them to our ReUsers social enterprise here

Are you interested in what people have donated? Take a look at our ReUsers eBay page

A new look JERICHO is here!

This year we have been on a fantastic journey with branding agency, Notepad, and we are very excited to show you the results…

image1.png

This year we have been on a fantastic journey with branding agency, Notepad, and we are very excited to show you the results…

Why did we rebrand?

Jericho has seen a lot of changes over the last 14 years. We have gone from an organisation reliant on government funding to one of the UK’s most innovative, successful and effective social enterprise charities.

We wanted to update our brand to reflect this by bringing our social enterprises and projects into the ‘Jericho family’ making it clear what we represent, who we help and how we do it.

Our rebrand also marks and celebrates the next stage of the Jericho journey. We are now entering a new phase, with plans to scale-up and replicate our most impactful social businesses and also grow our ‘family’ through a franchise or partnership model. We are also nurturing existing partnerships and developing new relationships at a local, regional and indeed national level to create a wider impact beyond that of the individual lives of the people we support. The new branding paves the way for the new era we are embarking on.

What’s new?

  • We have dropped the ‘Foundation’ and are now known simply as ‘JERICHO’

  • We have updated our story, vision, mission, purpose and proposition

  • We have a new tagline- ‘Breaking Barriers, Changing Lives’

  • We have a new visual identity including new or updated logos
