Job Vacancy: Driver’s Mate

Who are we?

JERICHO is a charity and family of seven social enterprises that provide supported work opportunities for people facing challenges in getting a job. These challenges could include trauma, insufficient work experience, health and wellbeing needs, education barriers and communication difficulties. Currently we primarily support survivors of modern slavery and young people.

About the Wood Shack

Our Wood Shack social enterprise reclaims, reuses and recycles wood. There are 3 main aspects of the Wood Shack; wood collections, the wood yard, and production.

Our collection team go out daily to collect ‘waste’ timber from construction and manufacturing sites and bring as much re-useable timber back to site as possible.

The wood yard then sorts and sells this wood to the public, local schools and businesses, ensuring that no wood goes to landfill.

We also use this reclaimed wood to make a small selection of set-product.

What’s the job?

We are looking for a driver’s mate to join the collections team to go out onto building and manufacturing sites to collect waste timber.

The driver’s mate will work alongside one of two drivers on a daily basis to attend sites and assist with the manual loading and unloading of the vans. They will be working on a range of sites, including HS2 sites, so they must adhere to strict health and safety procedures at all times. There will also be deliveries to be completed

Please be aware that this is a manual job, that requires working in all weathers, so you must be able to climb onto the back of vans, and safely lift pallets and full plywood sheets.
